Sperling is a police inspector who prefers the softly-softly approach and
doesn't need a gun to solve his cases. Nevertheless, even he has to climb
onto shaky cranes or fight his way through clouds of smoke now and then.
Compositing makes it possible and creates the framework for "bigger pictures".
Having shot the scene safely at ground level, Inspector Sperling was only
whisked up to dizzy heights by superimposing two or more images. This made
it possible to choose camera positions that would have been very expensive
to shoot using conventional filming methods.
