The film is an improvised docudrama telling the story of Fritz (Lars Rudolph), a German sailor trying to track down the jazz legend Duke Ellington. The story focuses on the musician's home and its stories, as well as the jazz musician's cigar-smoke-enveloped genius. Duke's House was premiered in 2003 at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
